Barhale adds North London win to Thames Water AMP7 brief
13th October 2020Civil engineering and infrastructure specialist Barhale has extended its role in the Thames Water AMP7 programme following selection for the Geographic Infrastructure framework.
The appointment to the £420M Lot 5 (North London), which includes the potential to extend into AMP8, builds on Barhale’s previous awards to the region-wide Infrastructure and Non-infrastructure Lots 1 and 2, within Thames Water’s overall £2.3bn AMP7 Capital Delivery programme.
Lot 5 is focused on the delivery of the water and wastewater AMP7 infrastructure programme across North London. Activities will include the new installation and replacement of existing trunk and rising mains; pressure management; the inspection of aqueducts, bridges and tunnels; the rehabilitation of sewers, pumping station refurbishment and gravity solutions to maintain asset health and accommodate growth. The programme will also continue work on sustainable urban drainage (SUDs) and pipeline-related emergency works.
The award adds to Barhale’s strong showing in the current AMP7 round, across the UK.
Phil Cull, Southern Region Director at Barhale said that the award is an important recognition of the business’s water industry specialism and testament to the relationship with Thames Water.
“We are immensely proud of our longstanding association and the confidence Thames Water continues to show in Barhale,” he said. “We have worked with Thames since 1989 and have supported each AMP period. That depth of experience gives us real understanding of the challenges facing a network which serves the most densely populated part of the country.”
Andy Flowerday, Executive Director at Barhale sees the appointment as an opportunity to build the relationship.
“I am really pleased and excited that we will be expanding our role within the AMP7 framework,” he said. “We fundamentally understand what Thames Water is trying to achieve and fully endorse their transition to a collaborative approach built around an Intelligent Client model with relationships based on trust and integrity.
“We are looking forward to playing an important part Thames Water’s forward plans.”
