Barhale successfully delivered on sewer repair at Manchester Infirmary
29th January 2024Barhale successfully delivered an awkward sewer repair in Manchester that needed us to think outside of the box because of a hospital being constructed over the sewer.
We designed and constructed a timber heading from the manhole outside of the hospital footprint, under the building to the manhole in the x-ray room. We broke into the manhole from outside and re-laid the pipework.
Given that this was a live hospital environment, we had to work adjacent to the ambulance emergency route as well as the A&E ambulance entrance. The team were diligent in coordinating all deliveries and working on a very tight site alongside other contractors.
Well done to the whole team for providing an innovative solution to a tricky situation whilst robustly managing the logistical challenges the project presented.
