Blackfriars Flume Installation Team Recognised for Efficiency in Delivery by Tideway
27th August 2021Congratulations to the Blackfriars Bridge Foreshore Team in our Southern Region, who have received an Efficiency in Delivery Award from Tideway.
These awards are run by Tideway each quarter to recognise efficiency in delivery of works.
The team, consisting of Ferrovial Laing O’Rourke (FLO), Unitspark, Thames Water design and operations teams and the Barhale flume installation team, worked collaboratively to save circa 2 months (or 35 shifts), £400k direct costs, 175 sewer entries and 500 person hours in delivering the flume installation.
All parties came together to deliver a critical part of the works from design to delivery with the key focuses remaining on safety, quality and efficiency. Barhale’s commitment was evident during installation of the flume, which was carried out with no incidents. It was a technically difficult construction piece, carried out in a time pressured environment, and at no time was safety or quality allowed to slip.
Ryno Lopes, Site Agent, said, “We were able to successfully complete the works due to the experience gained from delivering similar works at Victoria Embankment, as well as a joint effort from Thames Water’s operations team, specialist subcontractor, MMP Marine & Inspection and Tideway who managed all of the interfacing throughout the entire project.”
Some of the team can be seen here receiving the award in August.
