Thames Water has awarded Barhale a £2m contract to upgrade the Country Way surface water pumping station (SWPS) at Feltham, Middlesex.

The critical strategic asset receives surface run-off from the Heathrow catchment area – including from the airport. As a result, the wet well is classified as a zone 2 hazardous area due to the potential presence of hydrocarbons in the water.

The pumping station comprises three 200kW storm pumps and a fourth, 55kW dry weather flow pump. Our team will be replacing one of the 200kW pumps and installing a new motor control centre to allow multiple pumps to be used simultaneously.  The station will also be upgraded to align with latest standards with installation of gas tight seals to all penetrations into the wet well and isolate it from the pump hall and enlarge the opening of the wet well to improve maintenance access for the Thames Water operational teams.
