Chief executive Martin Brown recently attended a ground breaking event at Finsbury Park where Jeremy Corbyn, MP for Islington North, officially launched the hugely important civil-engineering project to make the station fully accessible.

A symbolic “first spade in the ground” from the former leader of the Labour party, marked the start of the main stage of work at what is one of London’s busiest transport hubs. It will see principal contractor Barhale install two new lifts to serve platforms 3/4 and 7/8, providing step-free access for passengers across the entire station.

Martin Brown, Barhale’s Chief Executive, said: “It is great for Barhale to be part of this project. The investment will provide real, tangible benefits to passengers at Finsbury Park.

“The project has many operational constraints and complex interdependencies which come with working in close proximity to live London Underground tracks and the East Coast Main Line. Our specialist tunnelling engineering heritage and equipment is proving invaluable in undertaking the works.”
